Katie Wood Ray’s “Finished Piece for Publication”

I never thought of the published product in my classroom as being anything more than a paper that was TYPED, more than one page,  stapled in the upper left-hand corner, and with the correct MLA heading.  I am ashamed I have stifled my students creativity in such a way.  To have students include pictures was something the old school schooled teachers said wasn’t allowed.  To allow students to create a binder to place their work in was unthinkable; it simply wasn’t MLA correct.  It is so amazing to let go and let the students take the project to an even more creative place than I could have lead them.
